Meatballz Inc. Is a new casual make-your-own meatball concept in Scottsdale. They have meatball bowls, meatball sandwiches, and sliders. There are four kinds of meatballs on the menu: chicken, spicy pork, beef and vegetarian. They have nine different sauces and gravies.

Welcome Diner opened a second location near 10th and Pierce streets, a short drive from its original Valentine diner on Roosevelt Street. Gadzooks, the make-your-own enchiladas and tacos concept, opened a second location in Arcadia. The first restaurant opened near Osborn and 7th Street in 2013. When Bone Haus Brewing opened, it became the first craft brewery in Fountain Hills. It is themed after bone houses in Europe, sometimes called ossuaries or catacombs. New York Bagels N' Bialys, a Kosher New York-style made-from-scratch bagel shop in the Valley, opened a third location at ASU's SkySong Center.

It was founded by Ruth Leatherman and Shelley Curtis in 1987. They reportedly serve 7,000 bagels and bialys a day!

The bowling alley has 36 backlit lanes, each with its own video screen, an arcade, and oversized food. For the adventurous, they have a five-pound burger and a two-foot-long Chi-Town hot dog. They also have a 100-ounce cocktail for those 21 and up.

Emily Rieve and Lindsey Schoenemann opened the concept at Union @ Roosevelt, an apartment complex, near First Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Nitro Live Ice Creamery uses liquid nitrogen to instantly freeze its ice cream. The Gilbert location was initially a Sub Zero franchise, but was eventually rebranded. They have more than 40 ice cream flavors, and various toppings. They have plans to open two more locations in the Valley.

Jamba Juice, the national juice chain, opened a store in Peoria, marking nearly 30 locations in the Valley. Quartiere is an Italian restaurant that replaced Riazzi's, which had been in business for decades.

La Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe opened two restaurants in the Valley. Both of them are located in the East Valley: Chandler and Gilbert. A third location is slated to open in downtown Phoenix.

The neighborhood bar and whiskey joint serves different kinds of meats, such as brisket, ribs, smoked pork hot links, and fried chicken. They also have sandwiches, buttermilk biscuits, and salads. S Gilbert brewpub, but has its own kitchen, bar, and menu. You won't miss it, but it has a graffiti-style mural that pays homage to J.K. Rowling and her 'Harry Potter' series. Address: 335 N.

Gilbert Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234. Zero Degrees is a national drink and snack concept that blends Hispanic and Asian flavors.

The 'Mangonada' is one of their signature drinks. It is a mango slushy with Chamoy and Tajin, and mango chunks.

They have a few other slushies, milk teas, and coffees. You'll find elote, popcorn chicken, spicy Dole whip, and chicharrones on the food menu. Address: 2000 E Rio Salado Pkwy, Tempe, AZ 85281. Hash Kitchen is bringing its Bloody Mary bar, chicken and waffles, and cereal-infused cocktails to Chandler. The restaurant recently opened in the shopping center near Loop 101 and Ray Road. Dutch Bros: The Arizona-based coffee chain with a loyal following opened two more drive-thrus in the Valley. One opened near Chandler Fashion Center in Chandler. The Mexican concept is in Scottsdale's Entertainment District and part of Skylanes, the group's club-style bowling alley and bar. The menu has tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, and salads. The flavored bars are made of gelato or sorbet and molded with a diamond-like design. They were made for Instagram. The Tempe Public Market Cafe is the sister concept to the Phoenix Public Market Cafe, a concept from Valley chef Aaron Chamberlin. Like the Phoenix restaurant, it boasts a locally-sourced, health-conscious menu. One element that is different is pizza.

Husband-wife duo and franchisees, Randy and Ann Sevilla, opened their second Firehouse Subs restaurant in Gilbert. Randy reportedly spent 32 years as a firefighter. Firehouse Subs has a variety of toasted sub sandwiches, salads, and platters. The company donates a portion of each sandwich to its Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The Gilbert restaurant, located at Rivulon near Gilbert Road and Loop 202, is also the brand's first restaurant to serve beer and wine. Riot Hospitality Group's health-focused Farm and Craft expanded with a second location at The Colony, a multi-use restaurant and retail center off 7th Street. The gelateria is located within their Scottsdale restaurant at the Shops at Gainey Ranch. Most of the ingredients, and the machine that makes the gelato, were imported from Italy, the company said. It is served in cake cones, waffles cones, and waffle bowls. Address: 8977 N.

It opened near Loop 101 and Mayo Boulevard. In 2016, the concept was sold to Due North Holdings. They have plans to franchise the restaurant nationally under a new name, 'Daily Jam'.

The Brass Tap in downtown Gilbert has at least 65 craft beers on tap, three wines, craft soda, and margaritas. Local franchisees brought the Florida-based concept to Arizona, debuting it in Mesa. Years later, they expanded to downtown Gilbert with a full-sized restaurant and bar. The patio has oversized backyard games like Connect Four and Jenga. The menu has flatbreads, sliders, tacos, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. Address: 313 N.

Gilbert Road, Gilbert, AZ 85234. SanTan Brewing Company, the Chandler-based brewery, opened a second brewpub near 16th Street and Bethany Home Road. It is located in the former Z'Tejas building. The inside has a large dining room, private dining area, and a bar. Popular brews include Mr. Pineapple, Devil's Ale, HopShock IPA, and SunSpot Gold.

In 2018, SanTan also began distilling spirits. Currently, they have two vodkas and a single-malt whiskey.

They expanded with a third location at 24th Street and Camelback Road. They use fresh ingredients from local farms and markets. The menu has a variety of omelettes, breakfast sandwiches and burritos, salads, sandwiches, pancakes, and pastries.

The brewery is on the second floor, while the first floor houses the restaurant and bar. It has an outdoor bar, patio, dog park, and a small area with backyard games. It's also home to a new concept - The Novelist. Address: 335 N.

Gilbert Road, Gilbert, AZ 85234. Ono Hawaiian BBQ, the national Hawaiian restaurant chain, opened two restaurants in the Valley in the first half of 2018. Two years after taking her concept to ABC's Shark Tank (unfortunetly, no deal was made), owner Allison DeVane opened a stand-alone location for Teaspressa, her tea and coffee concept, in Arcadia. The cafe makes tea-based drinks using traditional coffee methods: Teaspressa (tea-vesion of espresso), lattes and Americanos.

Taco Chelo opened in the revamped Flowers building off Roosevelt Street, now referred to as The Blocks of Roosevelt Row. The Mexican concept is the latest from Aaron Chamberlin, founder of St. Francis, Phoenix Public Market Cafe, and Tempe Public Market Cafe. He partnered with artist Gennaro Garcia and Chef Suny Santana. There is no food item on the menu that costs more than $7.
